Airspace Privacy and Security Notice

  1. Airspace is provided as a communications service for all serving members of the Royal Air Force, Reservists and dependants.

  2. Unauthorised attempts to access the Airspace system are strictly prohibited and are an offence under the Computer Misuse Act (1990).

  3. The use of all departmental Communications and Information Systems (CIS) facilities is, and will continue to be, subject to monitoring. All material held on MOD CIS equipment is deemed to be the property of the department itself, and staff are reminded that, as a consequence, so-called "private" information held on any departmental CIS facility will not be afforded any special protection and will be accessible to line management and investigating staff without prior recourse.

  4. Airspace is a controlled area accessible only to authorised users and can be used to share UNCLASSIFIED information of interest to members. This includes any UNCLASSIFIED but sensitive information which the originator does not want to be generally available to the public on the World Wide Web (WWW). [For details of the Protective Marking Scheme and definitions of RESTRICTED etc. see JSP 440, Volume 1]

  5. Information presented on Airspace is considered private information for the membership of Airspace and may not be distributed or copied outside of the membership without prior written approval from the originator.

  6. For site management purposes information is collected for statistical purposes. This government computer system uses software programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications and identifying system performance or problem areas.

  7. For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all authorised users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic, to identify unauthorised attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

  8. In addition to any authorised law enforcement investigations, attempts to access inappropriate web sites will be monitored and may result in disciplinary action being taken against the offender. Inappropriate web sites include any which feature pornography, pedophilia, racism, vandalism or violence against individuals based on race, ethnic background or religion.

  9. Cookie Disclaimer - Airspace does not use persistent cookies (persistent tokens that pass information back and forth from the client machine to the server). Airspace does use session cookies (tokens that remain active only until you close your browser) in order to personalise your site based on your stated preferences. The Ministry of Defence DOES NOT keep a database of information obtained from these cookies. You can choose not to accept these cookies but you will not be able to access this site. Refer to the help information in your browser software for instructions on cookies.
